WEEK LONG TRIPS

Florida

Immediately after I retired in March 2024 I headed to Florida to Kiteboard, visit family and get some Vitamin D. I met up with my friend Vince who also has a van and we kiteboarded in Tampa, the Florida Keys and in Miami. I also visited my parents in Fort Meyers for a few days. It is great to have the flexibility to go where you want (or where the wind ) and stay in the van wherever you are.

Pictured Rocks Fall Color Tour

October is a perfect month to head “Up North” to see the fall colors. We started in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with a visit to Curtis, MI to do some bird hunding (Micele read books) then headed up to Munising, Grand Marais and Paradice, MI. We saw the beautiful Pictured Rocks along the coast of Lake Superior, visited a brewery, walked the beaches, and took in the sights during our fall color tour.

OUTER BANKS (OBX) NORTH CAROLINA

Sean has been heading to the Outer Banks once a year to kiteboard with a group of his kiteboarding friends where they rent a large waterfront home for the week. The van proves very useful as a kiteboarding home base, providing ample kiteboarding gear transportation, post-session warm showers and even making and serving fresh sushi out the back at the beach after a long down-winder.

Cape Cod Massachusetts

My parents moved to Cape Cod more than 20 years ago and now it is the place for our Conway yearly pilgrimage. During a week or so in the summer, we explore the various villages on the cape, catch striped bass on a charter boat, eat lobster rolls, go whale watching, ride our e-bikes on the Cape Cod Trail and if windy enough, I kiteboard while my family enjoys the beautiful sandy beaches.
